Online Psychological Therapy
I’ve outlined below what you can expect should you decide to work with me. I’d love to see how I can help, so please do not hesitate to get it touch should you have any questions.
The first step is to schedule an appointment. You are welcome to email me directly to arrange this or you can use the scheduling calendar to book directly. If you would appreciate a brief telephone call in advance of committing to a session, I am happy to do so. Again, you are welcome to email me directly to arrange this or you can use the scheduling calendar to book it in by selecting Book Discovery Call.
Our initial assessment session of fifty minutes will aim to achieve an understanding of the problems that you have been facing and the impact that they are having on your daily life. We do this by talking together and if necessary, by filling out questionnaires. Assessment forms the foundation of your therapy plan (called a formulation), so it’s important that it is thorough. The plan is a co-creation, meaning that we collaborate on it together. Psychological science will guide our discussion.
The assessment session is also the moment when we determine if we should work together. The quality of the therapeutic relationship has been shown to be the most critical factor determining the success of therapy. I aim to offer a supportive and non-judgemental environment for my clients. This initial assessment process allows you to experience my way of working, so that you can make an informed decision about whether I am the right fit for you.
Therapy will then begin. Each session of 50 minutes will have a beginning (where we decide on which aspect of the plan to focus on and review “homework” from the previous session), middle (where we create a space for you to reflect, talk, explore and learn) and an ending (where we review the session and consider how you can apply what you have learned to your everyday life). in other words, this is not the type of therapy where you lie on the couch and talk. Rather, it is an active endeavour – there is on-going dialogue, feedback and planning for change. Together, we monitor your progress towards the goals that we have set.
The number of therapy sessions will depend on your particular concerns. I offer both long and short-term therapy, but we will agree the number of sessions in advance.
I invoice my clients after the session. There are two ways to pay – by Bank Transfer or SquareUp.com
